Pleurospermum uralense will become a green symbol of Bashkiria in "Alley of Russia" in Sevastopol

UFA, 5 November 2014. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/. On October 31, a public voting of the All-Russian ecological and patriotic campaign "Alley of Russia" was completed. Within four months residents of regions, territories and republics of the country have been choosing plants that will represent their regions in the Russian Alley of trees and plants in Sevastopol. Total about 3.5 million people took part in all forms of voting (website, media, and street polls).
According to preliminary data, in Bashkiria Pleurospermum uralense more known as kurai, received the largest number of votes. It scored 26,040 votes, which was 47 percent. Tilia cordata was also the leader of the voting for four months with the result of 40 percent. Among other candidates there was lilac "Salavat Yulaev", Bashkir pyramidal poplar and oregano.
The neighboring regions of Bashkortostan also selected their green symbols. In the Chelyabinsk region a shadberry was the voting leader, in Orenburg - Schrenk tulip.
The final results of "green elections" will be announced on November 10, after collecting information from all regions. The preliminary results of voting are available on the website of the project.
According to the organizers - the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment RF and the Foundation for Environment Protection Assistance "Nature", the creation of "Alley of Russia" was included in the number of celebratory events of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The ceremonial planting of green symbols is planned for May 2015 in Victory Park of Sevastopol. The Natural and Cultural Park of Crimea will present plants and trees of all 85 regions of the country. It is expected that there will be created a unique natural garden representing all climatic zones of Russia.
