Voting for the green symbol of Bashkiria enters the home stretch

UFA, 31 October 2014. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/. Voting for the green symbol of Bashkortostan enters the home stretch. Within four months any resident of the Russian Federation in the framework of the «Alley of Russia» campaign had an opportunity to choose which plant would become a symbol of the region where he lives. More than three million people took part in the largest in the history of Russia ecological survey. October 31 is the last day of online voting.

According to recent reports, Pleurospermum uralense from which Bashkir folk instrument kurai is made - is leading in the voting on the plant symbol of Bashkortostan. 47 percent of the website visitors voted for it (25,887 votes). The second place is taken by Tilia cordata (40 percent). Among the other five selected candidates there was lilac "Salavat Yulaev" (five percent of votes), poplar Bashkir pyramidal (three percent) and oregano (two percent). Total more than 54 thousand visitors of Bashkir project web page took part in the voting.

The All-Russian campaign "Alley of Russia" is held in accordance with the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation. After completion of the online voting and summing up the results the second stage of the project starts. The Organizing Committee will begin work on creation of parks "Alley of Russia", representing a diversity of the natural world of our country. It is decided to create the first "Alley of Russia" in Sevastopol and in Moscow. It is planned to plant there symbols of 85 Russian regions next May, for the anniversary of the Victory Day.
