49 percent of the population supports the idea to close all McDonald's restaurants in Russia - WCIOM

UFA, 28 October 2014. /Bashinform News Agency, Galiya Nabieva/. Almost half of Russians (45 percent) visited McDonald's restaurants. Residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg (83 percent) visited them more often than others. Among the McDonald’s visitors 67 percent are 18-24 year olds. People do not believe in the version of Rospotrebnadzor of sanitary reasons for such establishments’ closure. The initiative to prohibit operation of the chain in Russia was supported by almost half of the respondents. These are the data of the survey conducted by the Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (WCIOM).
Half of these restaurants’ visitors consider them "average", one third - "bad", and only one tenth - "good". 54 percent of respondents have never been to McDonald's. 47 percent of respondents consider the checks lately conducted in a number of McDonald's restaurants as measures taken by the authorities in response to the US anti-Russian policy. For six months the number of supporters of closing all McDonald's establishments in Russia has hardly changed - it's still about half of the respondents. The main argument in favour of this proposal is poor quality and tasteless food (41 percent). Other (20 percent) believe that the government should first maintain domestic catering.
