Central Military District will dispose more than 68 tons of old explosives before the end of the year

UFA, 21 October 2014. /Bashinform News Agency,Sergey Zakharov/. More than 68,000 tons of old ammunition and gunpowder will be disposed by the Central Military District in the current year. Of these, about 33 million tons will be discarded at arsenals of the District and more than 35 thousand tons at defense-industrial complex enterprises located in the Republic of Bashkortostan, as well as in the Sverdlovsk region and the Republic of Mari El.

As the press service of the Central Military District informs, the full cycle of disposal is carried out by workers of specialized workshops without participation of military men. Officers of missile and artillery supply of the Central Military District supervise the works. Waste products are sent to metallurgy and chemical industry. Part of gunpowder that cannot be used is burnt.

Currently, the annual plan for disposal is made by more than 85 percent. It is planned to complete all works before November 30.
