Monument to Wise Owl is opened in Ufa

On the eve of the Day of Knowledge a monument to the Wise Owl is opened in Ufa. The sculpture is installed near the Centre of Business and Law "Respect." The statue is a gift to our city from "Respect" company. The CEO of the company Olga Odinokova tells how the idea of the monument appeared:

“Our company has been making legal knowledge commonly available for about 20 years. We deal a lot with non-profit projects and in our anniversary year decided to make a gift to the city. Monuments-symbols exist in many cities of the world: for example, in Verona, in Florence. It is believed that touching them gives strength to a person. Our Wise Owl will also give magic - knowledge.”

The bronze sculpture depicts an owl wearing a master's cap and lying next to the scroll of wisdom. At the unveiling moment a tradition of touching the scroll for the magical power of knowledge was established. Young Ufa townspeople that will be first-graders on September 1 were the first to touch the scroll.

Sketch of a sculpture was made by the artist and designer Olesya Sapozhkova. The sculpture was created by the Honoured Artist RB Khanif Khabibrakhmanov.

Syntimir Bayazitov, the deputy head of Ufa at the unveiling ceremony said that the new art object would become popular among Ufa residents and guests of the city.
