Universities that prepare graduates for defense industry may get additional subsidies

The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation will provide additional subsidies to universities that train students for future work at the enterprises of military-industrial complex (MIC), the federal agency reports.
"To date the task of improving the quality of engineers training for companies of the military-industrial complex is a national priority,” the director of the state policy in the field of higher education Alexander Sobolev said.
The state support is aimed primarily at training courses to be created by universities together with defense enterprises, which should provide "targeted" training of students for specific industries. In addition, support will be provided to universities for purchasing educational equipment (training devices, simulators) to create centres of engineering education on the basis of which engineers will be trained directly at the facilities of enterprises.
More information about the contest and tender documents are available on a special website.
