On Friday, July 18, the main bell of the renovated belfry of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity of Alexander Nevsky Lavra arrived in Ufa. It was cast in Kamensk-Uralsky. The 18-ton bell is placed near Church of the Nativity of the Virgin. It will stay in the capital till 14.00.
“The manufacture of the bell took three months”, the head of the International Centre of Bell Ringing Art Andrey Diachkov said. “The hardest thing was to make a unique ornament. This work was done manually. To date "Alexander Nevsky" is one of the best bells in Russia.”
The bell of three m high, 2.9 m in diameter and weighing 18 tons arrived in Ufa from Chelyabinsk. Then the bell will go to Samara, Saratov, Penza, Ryazan, Moscow, Yaroslavl, Vologda and Cherepovets. Presumably on July 28, on the Battle of the Neva Memorial Day the bell will arrive at the Alexander Nevsky Monastery in St. Petersburg.
