Liliya Gumerova: "Our global objective is to preserve cultural and natural heritage of Shulgan-Tash"

At the Shulgan-Tash museum reserve the first meeting of the International Expert Council under the Government of Bashkortostan on preserving Paleolithic sanctuary "Shulgan-Tash" cave (Kapova cave) took place in Burzian region of Bashkortostan.
“We managed in a very short time to get into the tentative list, but we will have to do a lot of work that our object - Bashkir Ural - hit the UNESCO World Heritage List”, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government RB, the chairman of the International Expert Council Liliya Gumerova marked.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that the dossier to be submitted to UNESCO in September should convey not only a cultural and historical value, but also should contain a plan how to manage the object.
Speaking about a possible burden on the budget, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that the costs would be not large, but effective:
"With the help of grants, targeted support, including participation in the Russian projects, we will be able to preserve the object and to attract investment", she said.
Asked about a possible closure of the area for tourism, the Deputy Prime Minister dispelled doubts have arisen:
“Proper management means maintaining an original condition of the object, its protection, but not to the detriment of the tourist popularity of these places. Competent management in this area will streamline the flow of tourists and protect drawings of the Paleolithic sanctuary from human impacts.”
Liliya Gumerova also noted that along with usual tourist routes a schedule and routes for experts in this field should be developed as Paleolithic cave paintings were of high scientific value.
