In Bucharest, the Russian team won five medals - two gold and two bronze ones and one silver medal at the European Boxing Championship among women. As the press service of the Ministry of Youth and Sports RB informs, this result allowed Russians taking the first place in the team standings.

The female athlete from Bashkortostan, multiple European champion Elena Savelyeva, as part of the Russian team replenished the medal count, becoming European bronze medalist 2014 in the 54 kg weight category. In the semifinals, she lost to eventual European champion Marcia Davide from Italy.
