Ufa can become the capital of Russian design in 2015

The Regional branch of the Union of Designers of Russia took the initiative to choose Ufa for the annual festival "Capital of Russian Design" 2015. This was announced at the enlarged meeting of the Public Chamber of Bashkortostan Republic.

“Despite the intense competition, the capital of Bashkortostan has all chances to receive this title”, the head of the creative workshop of the Union of Designers Vilur Shakirov said.

Since 2003, the Union of Designers of Russia holds the "Capital of Russian Design" festival in different cities. The city gets the title of the capital in the competition. Any Russian city where public association of designers is available can participate in it. After reviewing applications from cities the next year Design Capital will be selected at the Assembly of the Union of Designers of Russia. Exhibitions, competitions, conferences, workshops, seminars are held throughout the year in the city-winner, which attract designers from all regions of Russia and abroad.

In 2014, Tomsk is appointed the capital of Russian design.
