International Children's Day through the eyes of statistics

The International Children's Day is celebrated in many countries around the world on the first day of summer. Statistics analyzed data on birth and development of the education system in our republic.
In 2013, in Bashkortostan 59.3 thousand children were born. In 1999 - the year of the low birthrate during the postwar years - 41.4 thousand kids were born in the republic. The general birth rate was 14.6 births per 1,000 inhabitants while the average index of 13.2.
Today there are 1630 pre-school educational institutions, 178 educational branches and 337 groups of preschool education in the region.
At the beginning of 2014, 213.3 thousand children visited kindergartens, and their number increased by 19.1 thousand last year.
In the 2013-2014 academic year in the republic there were 1498 daily educational organizations and 771 branches. 429.1 thousand children study there.
The teaching is held in the Russian, Bashkir, Tatar, Mari, Chuvash, Udmurt languages at schools. Furthermore, the Mordovian, German, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Latvian languages are taught as subjects. In Sunday schools kids study Polish, Armenian and Hebrew.
The system of supplementary education exists - children's art studios, sports clubs, art schools and other institutions. In 2013, 128 youth sports schools and sports clubs functioned in the republic, where 74.4 thousand children were engaged. 39.3 thousand children visited music and art schools.
Much attention is paid in Bashkortostan to recovery and rehabilitation of school children during the summer holidays. Annually more than three thousand health camps are opened, where every second schoolboy can have a rest. Thus, 223,000 children visited the summer camps in 2013.
