Ufa is visited by major sports bid campaigns organizer
The head of the consulting company from the Australian city of Sydney Bob Richardson came to Ufa at the invitation of the Bid Committee of the World Games 2021. He examined the sports facilities of the Bashkir capital and held consultations with the leadership of the Ufa Bid Committee. During the consultation process the foreign visitor met with the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Bashkortostan Andrey Ivanyuta.
Recall that the preparation works for participation in the bid campaign began in the republic three years ago. Now the Bid Committee has been compiling the Bid Book to be submitted to the Organizing Committee of the World Games before July 31, 2014.
The guest from Australia visited a number of significant sports venues of Ufa. To date, 14 of 28 sports facilities are ready in the capital of Bashkortostan. Some buildings are under construction, including the Centre for Paralympians. The athletics stadium, 50-metres Olympic pool and the multipurpose centre for team sports are at the design stage.
Competitions in non-Olympic sports will be held for 11 days in July-August 2021. It is expected participation of 3600 athletes from more than 100 countries.
The World Games are held by the International World Games Association (IWGA) every four years after the Olympics in more than 30 sports not included in the Olympic program. The first Games were held in 1981. Since then, they have taken place in the UK, Germany (twice), the Netherlands, Finland, Japan, China and Colombia. In 2017, the competitions will take place in Poland.
