Bashkiria to choose green symbol of the region

Bashkortostan supported "Alley of Russia" campaign, the press service of the Ministry of Ecology of the republic informs.

All 85 regions of the country are involved in a large-scale campaign. Each of them will choose its own symbol. They can be any plants: trees, shrubs or flowers that are traditionally associated with the region and are of particular importance for its residents.

The Ministry of Nature Management and Ecology RB identified 12 plants-candidates, including mountain ash, poplar, linden, bird cherry, larch, varieties of lilac, maple, oak, hawthorn and marjoram. Read more about the plants on the website of the department.

Open public voting starts on the website «Alley of Russia» on July 1, 2014.

On September 21, on the Foresters Day, green symbols selected by regions will be planted in the "Alley of Russia". Victory Park in the city of Sevastopol is selected as the all-Russian alley. The solemn laying of the "Alley of Russia" was held on May 9. Its creation will be a part of the preparation for the anniversary of the Great Victory, which will be celebrated in 2015.
