Birth rate increased by 5.1 percent in Ufa in January and February
In January-February 2791 children were born in Ufa – by 5.1 percent more than for the same period of the last year. A number of demographic indexes are given on the website of the city administration.
According to City Hall, the birth rate per woman in Ufa is 1.6 - 1.7. Thus just for reproduction this rate should be not lower than 2.15 - 2.2. Across the republic it is higher than in the capital: 1.8 - 1.9.
Average age of mothers of the first-born children in Ufa is gradually increasing and now stands at about 26 years. For comparison, in the early 1990s, it was 23.5 years. The age group from 25 to 34 years plays more and more important role in demographic processes.
The number of boys born is greater than girls according to natural laws. For example, last year in Ufa 109.3 boys were born per 100 girls. By the age of 15-17 sex ratio evens out. Further, women predominate in number over men.
