166 thousand people became participants of the first spring environmental clean-ups in Bashkiria

In Bashkortostan environmental campaign on cleaning and accomplishment of urban areas started. The first spring volunteer clean-ups were held in the republic on April 12.

“Over 166 thousand people participated in cleaning and landscaping activity. People collected and transported to landfills and dumps about three thousand tons of garbage,” the press secretary of the Ministry of Nature and Ecology RB Nina Nikandrova informs. “During the first ecological clean-ups percentage of cleaning and accomplishment of republican settlements amounted to six percent.”

Now landscaping is also conducted. To date 250 trees and shrubs are planted in the region. Chishminsky region is the leader in landscaping where currently 200 seedlings are planted.

Environmental campaign of 2014 will last until May 17.
