Bashkiria residents will be informed about the necessity of preventive vaccinations

From April 21, European Immunization Week will begin in Bashkortostan; it will last until April 26. This large-scale event is held in the Russian Federation including in the republic since 2006. The main objective of the Immunization Week is to draw public attention to the importance of preventive vaccinations, to raise awareness about the benefits of immunization.

Annually, more than 1.8 million people are immunized against infectious diseases in the framework of the national immunization schedule in the republic. Since 2006, the priority national project "Health" is implemented in Bashkortostan, which allowed vaccinating more than 10 million people against hepatitis B, measles, polio, influenza. Due to the measures taken in the region over the past decade it was managed to reduce to zero the number of cases of such infections as diphtheria, polio, tetanus. Incidence of mumps, rubella, measles, hepatitis B decreased to solitary instances.

All the activities of European Immunization Week in Bashkortostan will be directed at persuading people of the need for preventive vaccinations. Within six days, medical workers will tell the public about the importance of preventive vaccination, the results achieved in the fight against infectious diseases. Round tables, "hot line" will be organized. Specialists from the Ministry of Health, Rospotrebnadzor RB and other medical institutions will answer the questions.
