5,800 residents of Bashkiria will join the spring draft

The Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree "On the draft in April- July 2014 of citizens of the Russian Federation to military service and discharge from military service of citizens which are doing call-up military service."

154,000 Russian citizens aged 18 to 27 years not in the reserve are subject to the draft.

It is planned to call-up about 5800 people Bashkortostan this spring to the Armed Forces, the press service of the republican military commissariat informs.

Last year total over 12,200 people were sent to the Armed Forces and military formations from the republic.

In 2013 draft determent were provided to more than 20 thousand recruits, mostly for getting education and for health reasons. Over 10,000 citizens were exempted from conscription for various reasons.

The number of Bashkortostan residents with higher education called-up to the Armed Forces amounted to 19.7 percent of total number in 2013.
