Members of the Afghan events were honoured in Ufa

In memory of Russians who performed their duty outside the Fatherland a commemorative event for the former soldiers-internationalists working at urban housing enterprises "Afghanistan - our memory and pain" was held in Ufa, the press centre of the Federation of Trade Unions RB informs. The meeting was devoted to the 25th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.

The combatants were told words of gratitude for their sacrifice and selfless service to the Fatherland. Children of creative ensembles "Arabesque", "Funny Girls", "Confetti" gave dancing and singing performances.

The participants shared their memories of combat operations in Afghanistan.

“We managed to fulfill our task and we remained true to the oath. My duty was to keep all of my soldiers alive. And now they remember me, get in touch with me, thank me - this is my reward! I wish young people never experience what we have experienced” the retired colonel Sergey Safonov said.

The chairman of the joint trade union organization of Ufa housing services Natalia Orekhova wished the present good health, peace, love and prosperity. She also said that the former soldiers-internationalists of urban housing companies would be given financial assistance.

The combatants were handed over flowers and gifts at the end of the solemn meeting.

February 15 – is the Day of Remembrance of the Russians who performed their duty outside the Fatherland. It is celebrated by all participants of military conflicts abroad, mainly by those who served in Afghanistan (1979-1989).
