Rustem Khamitov met with the Executive Secretary of the SCO Business Council Sergey Kanavsky

On February 12, the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov met with the Executive Secretary of the Business Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Sergei Kanavsky at the House of the Republic, the press service of the head of the region informs.

Rustem Khamitov said that the preparations for the SCO and BRICS Summits went according to the schedule.

“This work is of paramount importance for us. At the same time we are preparing for these events without any frills. Global, massive construction is not conducted. The interior of the Congress Hall is being renovated where the Summits will be held. We conduct some works related to urban infrastructure. We had a significant gap in the availability of hotels in the republic, particularly in Ufa. Today we make for this deficiency - six or seven new facilities are at different stages of construction. But certainly by the end of 2014 four hotels will be commissioned and two more will be ready in early 2015. This is quite enough to hold Summits in accordance with all the requirements.

Our airport and airfield are also modernized. This work is scheduled. It does not depend on the Summits to be held. The international part of our airport needed renovation for quite a long period of time. The Summits are just a reason in this case to raise funds, to obtain new quality of our airport, by the way, a well-functioning one and constantly growing,” the head of the republic said.

In turn, Sergey Kanavsky expressed his opinion that "the republic uses its chance to hold major international events as a possibility to show the beauty of Bashkiria and it is done correctly and very well. I hope that everything planned will be executed. The proposed concept meets all the requirements for the realization of such a major event as the Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization".
