Olympic Winter Games in Sochi 2014: short track and ice hockey again for Bashkiria

On Thursday, February 13, at the Winter Olympics 2014 in Sochi attention of Bashkir fans will be riveted to the men’s short track and ice hockey.

Preliminary heats among short- trackers at a distance of 1000 metres are to be held at 14.25 (Moscow time). Here Ufa is represented by the Russian Semen Yelistratov. The silver medalist Viktor An and Vladimir Grigoriev will also run for the Russian team.

Semifinals of 5000 m relay will be also held. The start time is at 15.31. Besides Yelistratov the Russian team includes also Ufa residents Ruslan Zakharov and Dmitry Migunov.

Six representatives of Ufa "Agidel" ice-hockey club play for the Russian women's hockey team. A match for the lead in Group "B" - Sweden - Russia will start at 21.00. While both teams just won so far (but Swedes have best goals difference - 5:0 against Russia - 6:2).

Yesterday men also started to play Olympic ice hockey. Swedes being in the lead 4-0 weakened their attack and allowed the Czechs to reduce slightly their backlog - 4:2.

Latvia with quarterback Arthurs Culdi from Ufa "Salavat Yulaev" missed a goal in the last minute of the match versus Switzerland - 0:1.

Today, on February 13, Russia will have a match versus Slovenia (16.30) at the Winter Olympics 2014. Here there are no participants from Ufa.

But they are in the game USA - Slovakia (Slovaks forward Tomas Zaborsky from "Salavat Yulaev") and Finland - Austria (Antti Pilstrem).
