Russians see huge benefits from mega-events and want to host them in their cities - VTSIOM

Most Russians are aware of global events, past or planned to be held in the country. Such events bring more good than harm for the city and for the country as a whole. These are the main findings of the next study the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VTSIOM).
The vast majority of citizens, 98 percent knew about the upcoming Olympic Games and the Football World Cup in Russia. Most of the population is aware of such recent events as the World Universiade in Kazan and the APEC summit in Vladivostok. However, none of the respondents did not attend them and has no plans to visit the next events so far.
According to 62 percent of the population of Russia, mega-events benefit the cities and territories of their holding. Especially people living in cities with a population of over 500,000 people (70 percent) see good points in this. Every second Russian would be happy to host a significant event in their city.
