An amnesty declared by the State Duma on December 19 in connection with the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Russian Federation can be applied in respect of 572 people in penal institutions and registered in the penal inspection, the official website of Bashkortostan Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia informs.
Most of them (555 convicts) are serving a non-custodial sentence. 17 prisoners can be freed from prison.
To the greatest extent the amnesty relates to young convicts who committed crimes before the age of 18 years. 264 people fall into this category among those sentenced to non-custodial sentence. 12 people are in institutions of confinement.
Among other categories covered by the amnesty, one man over 60 years, one liquidator of the Chernobyl accident, one participant of military operations, one disabled man are contained in prisons of Bashkortostan Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.
