Laboratory of political movies will present a film about Christmas truce during World War I
The project by Bashkir Academy of Public Administration and Management "Laboratory of political movies" will present a feature film «Joyeux Noël - Merry Christmas".
The film by the French director Christian Carion was first shown to viewers at the Cannes festival in May 2005. The next year the film was nominated for "Oscar" and "Golden Globe" in the category "Best Foreign Language Film".
The plot is devoted to the so-called Christmas Truce (Fr. Trêve de Noël). This event of the First World War took place on the western front when on the eve of Christmas in December 1914 the French, British and German troops exchanged greetings and songs through the trenches.
The theme of the WWI was selected for political film show not accidentally. In the coming 2014 Russia together with other member countries of these events prepares to celebrate the 100th anniversary since the start of military operations.
The film was provided for viewing by the French reading room of the A. Z.Validi’s National Library RB with the support of "Alliance Francaise" society.
Viewing and discussion of the film will be held at the Centre of Russian Cinematography - "Rodina" cinema on December 12. The beginning of the film show is at 18.30.
