Bashkortostan will receive more than 100 million rubles for creating accessible environment for disabled people

Bashkortostan will receive over 100 million rubles of federal funding for creating an accessible environment for the disabled people. The same sum will be allocated and by the republic itself, the Minister of Labour and Social Protection RB Lenara Ivanova informed at the press-conference at Bashinform News Agency.
According to her, the implementation of projects on creating an accessible environment for people with disabilities in the next year will receive a new stage of development, as the amount of funding will increase significantly at the expense of the federal treasury.
However, as heads of public organizations of disabled people stressed, the term "Accessibility"- is not only the presence of access ramps, but socio-cultural and information availability.
The briefing was held on the International Day of People with Disability, but as Lenara Ivanova marked, it was not a holiday, but the "day of special attention and assistance to people with disabilities".
According to the Ministry, the number of disabled people in Bashkortostan decreases slightly, while the number of children with disabilities increases. First of all it is connected with nursing infants with extremely low birth weight.
Lenara Ivanova called employment as the main achievement of disabled people rehabilitation. However, this is a big problem so far.
She said that the main task of correctional schools and traditional colleges where people with disabilities could study was to teach them such skills which would help to earn their living.
