1680 children are accounted for one thousand women in Bashkortostan - statistics
A statistical image of modern motherhood in the republic was presented by Bashkortostan Statistics Agency. The study is published on the eve of the Mother's Day, which is marked on November 24. This holiday was established in 1998 by the Decree of the President of Russia.
Bashkortostan Statistics Agency notes that on Mother's Day greetings can be received by the vast majority of women: on average, only 6.5 percent of women of every generation, for whatever reasons, do not become mothers. In Bashkortostan, according to the national census of 2010 1,680 children are accounted for every thousand women aged 15 and older. In rural areas women give birth more often (2183) than in urban areas (1372). The national average is 1469 children.
Whereas in modern society, many young women tend to postpone motherhood for long perspectives, thus the main role in the natural reproduction of the population moved from the age group of 20-24 years (in 1990) to women aged 25-29 years (in 2012). Last year in the republic 35.7 percent of all children were born in families where mothers were between 25 and 29 years.
Early motherhood has become a rarity. The same year of 1990, one tenth of all births was accounted for women aged under 20 years. In 2012, only 4 percent of children were born at young moms.
Last year, 27,000 women became mothers for the first time. More than 22 thousand women gave birth to their second children, about ten thousand decided to have many children.
Interestingly, 618 sets of twins and 11 triplets were born in Bashkortostan in 2012.
