Prospects of ecological agriculture development were studied at the conference in Ufa

Ufa hosts the conference "Prospects of preservation and development of ecological agriculture, national genetic resources and eco-, agro-, gastro-tourism in Russia - as tools for sustainable development of local communities and ensuring the environmental rights of citizens in the 21st century. New challenges - new technologies". The forum is organized by the Public Chamber of Bashkortostan Republic in cooperation with the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, as well as Ufa State University of Economics and Service. Representatives of public organizations, experts and scientific communities, ministries and departments, farmers, legislators take part in the scientific forum.
“The Public Chamber of the Russian Federation for two years has been conducting a series of activities in the regions devoted to preservation of ecological agriculture”, the expert consultant on Environmental Law of the Public Chamber of Russia Olga Razbash said. “The problem is extremely urgent, especially after Russia's accession to the WTO. Bashkortostan is the 22th region which expressed a desire to participate in the all-Russian discussions. We see that in your republic a lot of activity is carried out in this field due to so many disturbing current trends: climate changes, predicted food crisis. It is necessary to survive and to aim for innovation investments. Scientists observe that interest is growing to ecological agriculture; organic products’ market is developing. The discussion of these issues in a round table format will attract even more attention of the public.”
According to the scientific expert of the International Commission on the Future Food Production and Agriculture Alexander Baranov, ecological agriculture is a priority activity.
Members of the scientific forum noted that by results of the conference recommendations will be made that could be a basis for further work in the field of organic farming.
