All buses will be equipped with navigation systems in Ufa

All buses in Ufa should be equipped with GLONASS or GLONASS/GPS navigation systems. Scheduling of all bus fleet of the city will be carried out through a uniform city traffic control station. Respective amendments to the decision accepted by city council in 2006 were made today at the city council meeting.

All organisations and individual businessmen engaged in passenger transportations on regular routes will be obliged to provide a centralized control over bus traffic, and owners of buses should equip their transport with serviceable navigation devices.

Term of operation of buses with number of seats less than 15 should not exceed four years as from the date of manufacture. Term of operation of buses with number of seats less than 25 and standing places less than 30 should not exceed eight years. Restriction makes 12 years for buses with number of seats more than 25 and standing places more than 30.

Tenders for new city routes will be spent according to new rules. The equipment of current routes with control stations will be started in the near future. The same relates also to the equipment of buses with navigation devices.

The accepted amendments will not only increase safety of passenger transportations, but also will allow achieving regularity of bus traffic services rendered by carriers.
