World Post Day is celebrated on October 9

The World Post Day is one of annual international holidays established by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1969, and it is marked on October 9.
In 1939 at UPU Congress in Buenos Aires it was offered to celebrate the World Post Day annually on October 9, as the Day of the Universal Postal Union. According to the Universal Postal Union, international mail speaks in 6,8 thousand languages of its customers and represents the most extended network of physical mail delivery in the world. The holiday is also included in the system of the world and international days of the United Nations and is urged to promote popularisation and development of post service in the world.
In Russia one more holiday was founded by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation in 1994— the Day of Russian Post which is marked on the second Sunday of July.
