There are many Bashkir stars in the list of potential torchbearers for Sochi-2014

The Organising Committee "Sochi-2014" continues to disclose names of the first selected torchbearers of Olympic torch relay.

Torchbearers represent all 83 regions of Russia and were selected on the basis of the International Olympic Committee’s criteria.

The Organising Committee "Sochi-2014" continues to process and confirm application of potential torchbearers of Olympic fire. The final co-ordinated list from 14 thousand persons will be formed till the end of September, 2013.

The new list from more than 70 nominees, who represent Bashkortostan, includes many famous people in the republic. Among them — multiple Paralympic champion, the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation of Rima Batalova, the Minister of Youth Policy and Sports RB Andrey Ivanyuta, the mayor of our capital Irek Yalalov, the director of Youth Policy and Sports Department AP RB Alexander Nikerin, former and current sports stars Evgenie Vaitsekhovsky, Andrey Vasilevsky-junior, Dmitry Vasilev, Gulnaz Gubaidullina, Elena Koroleva, Nikolay Krasnikov, Andrey Krivosheev, Alexey Labzin, Oksana Savchenko, Alexander Nevolin-Svetov, Irek Mannanov, Elena Pautova, Rustem Sabirkhuzin, Elena Savelyeva, Lily Shobukhova, Alexey Seliverstov, Alexander Semak, Tamara Tansykkuzhina, Niyaz Faizullin, Maxim Chudov and Marat Yusupov.
