High-speed electric train «Ufa - Kandry» will go for its first trip on August 23

The presentation of a new high-speed electric train ED-4M «Ufa — Kandry» has taken place at Ufa railway station. It will go for the first trip on August 23. The President of the republic Rustem Khamitov has examined an electric train.

There is an air-conditioning system in carriages, and at platforms — compulsory ventilation is provided. The new electric train will make less noise. There is energy saving light-emitting diode line, alarm fires and buffer lamps in passenger compartments, and also LED signals to control over boarding-detraining of passengers and lighting fixtures in platforms. Video cameras and a special onboard system will supervise over the situation in carriages and a technical status of the train.

“Such high-speed train is a serious step forward, but nevertheless it is outdated,” Rustem Khamitov said addressing to the management of Kuibyshev Railway. “It is an economy class. In other countries I saw electric trains of absolutely other level — there are every possible screens inside with speed and overboard temperature indicators, there are also mini-buffets there. And the most common people go by them. Thank you for this train but if we say that it is our ultimate dream we will never develop.”

There are total six carriages and 624 seats in the electric train «Ufa — Kandry». It should be marked that the rail trip fare is essentially lower than the price of a bus ticket. The ticket for a bus from Ufa to Kandry costs 230 rbl., the electric train fare is 150 rbl.

According to experts, thanks to a high-speed electric train the number of transported passengers will increase approximately by two thousand monthly. In total every day 57 suburban trains on 12 routes go over five main directions of the Bashkir department of the Kuibyshev railway. For seven months 2013 it was transported about two million 300 thousand people over Bashkortostan Republic.
