About 9,5 thousand people suffered from ticks bites in Bashkiria

9456 people who suffered from ticks bites addressed to medical and preventive treatment facilities of the republic, Bashkortostan Directorate of Rospotrebnadzor (Russian Agency for Health and Consumer Rights) informs. It is much less than the last year. Then it was 15906 people with ticks bites. Immunoglobulin preventive treatment was undergone by 24,7 percent of addressed people, including 64,6 percent of children.

From the beginning of the season of ticks activity (since April 1) inhabitants of the republic have brought 4278 insects to laboratories of «The Centre of Hygiene and Epidemiology in Bashkortostan Republic». Researches have shown that 254 of them (5,9 percent) were infected with tick-borne encephalitis virus. For the similar period of the last year 6806 ticks were examined, 509 from them were infected (7,5 percent).

In May-June, 2013 16 cases of tick-borne encephalitis were registered.
