For last two years Russians became more confident about the future —VCIOM

The confidence of Russians in the future was in the focus of the Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VCIOM) during the next sociological research.
It was found out that the confidence in the future strengthened. The corresponding index for the last year has grown by 7 points (fro,-8 to-1 point). Two years ago the indicator was at the level of -22 points. This is a consequence of increase in the share of respondents who informed about their confidence in the future (from 44 to 48 percent for a year). Opposite feelings are marked at 49 percent of inhabitants of the country.
The feeling of confidence in the future is characteristic for Muscovites and Petersburgers (58 percent) and 18-24 year old respondents (57 percent). Inhabitants of other large and medium cities (53-54 percent) are of the opposite opinion.
Russians started planning their lives more frequently. The index shows a slow growth — from 22 to 25 for a year. Two years ago it made 9 points.
At the same time plans more often are made for the short-term (41 percent), instead of for the long term (21). 37 percent of interrogated don’t make plans at all. 20 percent of people don’t do that because they consider situation in the country as unstable, and 17 percent — because they just never plan their future life.
During sociological research 1,6 thousand inhabitants of 130 settlements of 42 Russian regions were interrogated. The statistical error does not exceed 3,4 percent, VCIOM marks.
