Fire of the World Summer Universiade will be carried by 38 torchbearers along streets of Ufa

On June 18, a solemn ceremony of lighting the city fire cup of XXVII World Summer Universiade and a torch relay of the Universiade will take place in Ufa. As the Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization «Directorate on organisation and carrying out of sports events RB» informs, 38 torchbearers will carry the fire of the World Summer Universiade along streets of Ufa. Famous sportsmen, students, best volunteers, prominent public figures of the republic will be torchbearers. The start of the relay torch for the distance of 7 km 300 metres will take place at 15 o'clock local time from the Youth Palace, will go through the main streets of the city and Salavat Yulaev Square will become its finishing point. Here a platform for performances of creative teams and an entertaining program will be organised. Lighting of the city fire cup will be made in the same place.

The route of torch relay of Universiade-2013 runs across the 30 Russian largest student centres of Russia. The relay will pass 60000 km and end on the day of opening of the Summer Universiade - 2013 in Kazan on July 6.

According to the decision of the Executive Committee of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) the XXVII World Summer Universiade will be held in Kazan from July, 6 till July 17, 2013. About 13500 sportsmen and more than 50000 visitors will take part in the competitions.
