Rustem Khamitov took part in the «Day of 1000 Cyclists»

On Sunday, May 19, a sports holiday «Day of 1000 Cyclists» was held in Ufa. It was dated for the International Cyclists Day. Annually this day bicycle races and cycling competitions take place in all Russian cities.

The holiday will be spent for the third time in the capital of Bashkortostan. This year over four thousand sportsmen started in a mass bicycle ride.

In 2011 350 people took part in the project. In 2012 already more than 1300 people took part in it. The present «Day of 1000 Cyclists» was opened with a bike ride along the central streets of the city — from Lenin Square (City Council) to the Congress Hall sports area. The President of the republic Rustem Khamitov, and also the head of Ufa administration Irek Yalalov and the chairman of capital sport committee Sergey Stepanov participated in the ride.

“Our cycling brotherhood grows and spreads, it testifies that cycling sports are developing,” Rustem Khamitov said. “We will always ride bicycles — we will ask the city council to construct more bicycle tracks. The available number of tracks is insufficient.”

Then the festival of bicycle sports were held on such disciplines, as Strit BMX, Trial, Downhill, figure cycling, cross-country. Also competitions and prize drawing were held there.

The main organizers of the event are the Union of Cyclists RB, the City Committee on Physical Training and Sports.
