Bashkiria francophones celebrate the Day of the French language

On March 20, the International Francophone Day is celebrated. For the first time it was spent in 1990. Since 2010 the United Nations Organization defined this date as the day of celebration of the French language.
Francophonie is an international organisation of cooperation of the French-speaking countries, uniting 56 states.
Francophone is a person speaking French. In Bashkortostan there are a lot of such people. In March, 2012 a Francophone Centre was created at M.Akmulla Bashkir State Pedagogical University (BGPU).
“From today in our republic, as well as all over the world, Francophonie decade starts,” the head of the centre, BGPU lecturer Ravil Garipov said. “A variety of interesting competitions is planned. Among them there is a competition of drawings after fairy tales by Charles Perrault. Schoolchildren, students and all interested inhabitants of Bashkortostan can take part in it.”
The first works are sent for the competition of translators. This year experts in the French language translate into Russian works by Belgian writers. The Internet quiz started on the republican educational portal. Its participants should show their knowledge of nature and ecology of the French-speaking countries.
The decade will come to the end with a gala concert in BGPU on March 30. Besides republican masters of arts, students from Congo, Mali, Algeria, Cote d'Ivoire, studying in Bashkiria will give their performances there.
