The 8 of March is the holiday for 53 percent of Bashkiria population

On the threshold of the International Women's Day the Bashkortostan Statistics Agency represents the developed statistical information about fair sex of the republican population. The data of 2012 and 2013 years were used at the analysis.

2,2 million women of different age live in Bashkortostan. These are 53 percent of the population.

The average gender ratio is 1139 women to 1000 men. Thus in younger age group – under 16 years – boys numerically surpass girls: 1000 and 961, accordingly. At able-bodied age from 16 to 59 years the ratio changes: 1000 men to 1069 women. In the senior group numeric gap increases: 1000 and 1824.

Average-expectancy life of women in Bashkortostan is 75,2 years. Our ladies live longer than men (63,1), but less than women in the developed countries. For example, Frenchwomen and Swede live on average 83-84 years, Japanese – almost 86 years.

The modern inhabitant of the republic is, as a rule, a career woman: the occupation level in this group of the population makes 57 percent. 48 percent of human resources in the economy are accounted for women. Women’s labour prevails in public health services and social service sphere, in education, wholesale and retail trade, in hotel business and public catering.

The most part of students in higher educational institutions are girls (56 percent, or 85,9 thousand people), the most considerable predominance is marked at humanitarian departments: public health services (83 percent), economics (74), arts (73). 74 percent of students at pedagogical universities are girls. In technical colleges the share of girls constitutes only 35 percent.

In secondary special educational institutions 34,5 thousand girls (47 percent) study.

The teaching staff of Bashkortostan universities totals 7,4 thousand people, 58 percent (4,3 thousand) from them are women.

Number of post-graduate students are 2867 people, from them 48 percent (1379) are women.

Sociological (74 percent), philological (72), medical (72) and biological (67) sciences are preferential for ladies.
