Almost 59 thousand babies were born in Bashkiria in 2012

According to preliminary information 58707 kids were born in Bashkiria in 2012 – 2757 babies more than in 2011. Infant death rate increased by 15%, making up 7,7 pro mille per 1000 kids (under expected 25%). The average all-Russian index is equal to 8,8 pro mille. The deputy Minister for health protection RB Ralida Shakirova explains that such increase occurred due to transitions to the criteria of birth rate, recommended by the World Health Organization.

At the same time the index of maternal death rate decreased almost by 20% since 2006 and made up 6,8 per 100 thousand kids, born alive, in 2012.
