Causes of rail disaster on East-Siberian railroad under investigation

The causes of rail disaster on East-Siberian railroad – the crash of 21 carriages with coal – are under investigation now. The locomotive crew of the oncoming train – the machinist and his assistant engine driver – died. The crash has occurred on Saturday, January 12, on the stage Irkutsk-Ulan-Ude.

According to operative information the main cause of the crash is a break of the side frame of one of the carriages, capitally repaired at JSC “Carriage Repair Works” (Sterlitamac), the site of “Russian Railways” reported.

More exact causes will be called after investigation, conducted by specialists of Russian Ministry for transport, Russian news portals report, referring to the Russian committee of inquiry.
