Russians consider Darya Dontsova the best writer-2012 and Stas Mikhailov – the best singer of the year

On the eve of the New Year the all-Russian Public Opinion Investigation Center (VSIOM) has published the information how Russians estimate the ongoing year, what they expect from the forthcoming one, what events they consider the key ones and whom they consider the persons of the year in politics, sport and art.

According to investigation results 2013 turned out to be rather good. The majority of Russian citizens (54%) estimate 2012 rather indifferently – without either sheer enthusiasm or negative emotions. One third of Russians (34%) will meet 2013 in good and optimistic mood.

For 55% of Russians 2012 was rather positive but for the country in a whole it was quite difficult – 56% believe it is so. As for expectations, in opinion of the majority of Russian citizens it will go well both for families (69%) as well as for the country in a whole (59%).

The majority of Russians (73%) will celebrate the New Year at home and 16% will stay with friends. Others prefer to meet New Year in restaurants and out of town.

Russian citizens call presidential elections the main event of the year – 18%. Kuban flood stands on the second position – 155, Olympic Games in London – on the third (15%) and corruption scandals – on the fourth (also15%). Russians also consider Middle East unrest the main world event (27%).

Vladimir Putin is admitted the politician of the year in Russia (54%), Dmitry Medvedev stands on the second place (16%) and Sergey Shoigu – on the third (13%).

The majority of Russian citizens consider Darya Dontsova the writer of the year – 8% and Boris Akunin stands on the second line (3%).

Stas Mikhailov is called the best singer-2012; Philipp Kirkorov and Nikolai Baskov share the second place (7% each).

Eugene Plushenko is called the best sportsman-2012 (9%) and for the last time he has got this title in 2009. Andre Arshavin stands on the second line – 5%.
