By 2015 Russia will have at least 15 free digital TV-channels

The Government RB was discussing actual problems of TV today. The work meeting, devoted to implementation of the federal goal-oriented program “Development of TV-radio broadcasting in Russian Federation in 2009-2015” was held under chairmanship of the deputy Prime-Minister of the Government RB Dmitry Sharonov.
At the initial stage of the program the first pack of obligatory free digital TV-channels will be launched.
“The pack will include “The First Channel”, “Russia-1”, “NTV”, “Channel 5”, “Russia-2”, “Russia-Culture”, “Russia-24”, the channel for children “Merry-Go-Round” plus one regional TV-channel” – press service of the Government RB reported – “By 2015 the list of free digital TV-channels will be widened and it will be at least 20 of them. Digital TV broadcasting on the territory of Russia will come true in DVB-T2 standard”.
The next meeting of the workgroup will take place in the first quarter of 2013.
