International Day of Children Helpline to be marked in Bashkiria

International Day of Children Helpline is traditionally marked in Russia on May 17 and this time it will be held under the slogan: “In Difficulties-Together”.

Our country has joined this holiday in 2009. This is free anonymous service of emergency psychological aid to children and teenagers by phone. The initiative to mark this day belongs to the international organization “Children Helpline International”, officially recognized by the UNO Committee for child rights and having representative offices in more than 150 countries. The National Fund for protection of children from cruel treatment is the representative of Russia in this organization. More than 280 children helplines work in our country and every year they receive more than half a million calls from children and teenagers. More than 35 thousand calls contain information about cruel treatment.

In 2010 The Fund for Children Support has introduced the unified all-Russian phone number for children helpline: 8-800-2000-122. In September same year this number was switched on at two institutions of Bashkortostan – in the Republican Center of social and psychological aid for families, children and teenagers and at the Republican Social Asylum for children and teenagers. All calls are free and anonymous.
