May 12 is the National Day of Forest Planting in Russia

The National Day of Forest Planting will take place in Russia on May 12 and any person may join it.

The main goal of the forthcoming “forest” day is attraction of public attention to the problem of national forests preservation. For the first time the National Day of Forest Planting was organized in Russia on May 14, 2011, within the frames of the International Forest Year, announced that time. 190 thousand Russians have planted 25 million saplings.

The press-service of the Ministry for forestry RB reports one year ago 500 saplings have been planted in every forestry RB in 2011. In total complexity Bashkir forests have been replenished with more than 15000 young elms, fir trees, birch trees and lime trees for just one day.
