Zone for protection of rare plants will be opened at Iremel

Design work for preparation of territorial architectural-planning layout is carried on in the natural park “Iremel” and the layout, which has to be completed by the end of this year, will consist of five territorial zones with different modes. Every zone will have its own ecological norms and loads and the matter is first of all how many tourists can be found in every zone of the park, what activity will be permitted there and in what volumes.

“The territory of our natural park “Iremel” is more than 49 thousand hectares. Preliminary zoning of the park is already done and at present time the preliminary territorial zoning either is specified or redistributed” – the scientific director of “Iremel” Ilsaf Gabdeev reported to “Bashinform”.

According to him the territory of the park will include five zones, including the zone for protection of rare plants, where tourist activity will be strictly prohibited. The zone of regulated recreation and the recreation zones will also be present. The last zone presumes laying of tourist routes and campcraft.

Construction of tourist shelters and parking places will be permitted in the reception sub-zone and in the fifth economic zone local villagers may mow grass.

“The zone for protection of rare plants will include the northern part of the park, not popular among tourists. This zone includes unique mountainous tundra areas, the ridge “Yagodny” and a part of the ridge “Small Iremel” plus the unique morasses, where plenty of rare plants grow. This fauna is too vulnerable as well as mountainous tundra. In all other zones recreation is quite possible” – the deputy director of the natural park explained.
