Conference of Turk Wikimedia to be held in Alma-Ata on April 20-21

The conference of Turk Wikimedia, initiated by Kazakh public fund “WIKBILIM” – official representative of Wikimedia Foundation in Kazakhstan, will be held in Alma-Ata on April 20-21, 2012. Representatives of Turk countries and Turk-speaking regions will take part in it and organizers of the conference invite two representatives from every Turk-community, paying fare and accommodation.
The community of Bashkir Wikipedia intends to choose its representatives for participation in the conference. For the reference: The process of making Bashkir Wikipedia (http://ba.wikipedia.org) started in June 2002, but the first article (a version of the article) “Bashkortostan” was written on April 16, 2005. Administrators of Bashkir Wikipedia report the 100th article (chemistry) was registered already in a year – April 26, 2006. Since then Bashkir Wikipedia is found in step-by-step development on a voluntary basis. On March 9, 2012, Bashkir Wikipedia contains 15810 articles. 5526 participants are registered and six of them have the status of administrators.
By the number of articles Bashkir Wikipedia holds the fourth place among Turk divisions after Turkish division (182516 articles), Kazakh (126573) and Azerbaijani (85165), leaving Tatar (14578) and Chuvash (13469) Wikipedia divisions behind.
