International Native Language Day to be marked in Ufa

The whole world celebrates the International Native Language Day on February 21. This day was established in November 1999 according to the decision of the 30th session of UNESCO General Conference. It is marked every year.

The festival of native languages, devoted to the memory of Bashkir specialist in Turk philology, writer and public activist Jalil Kiekbaev is dated to this memorable date in Ufa. The action will take place at Ufa Gymnasium N39 on Tuesday, February 21.

The press-service of UNESCO republican committee reports the UNESCO associated schools and the schools, working within the frames of UNESCO programs and projects, will take part in the action.

“The goal of the festival is stimulation of interest to lingual variety among pupils, to study of native languages and to upbringing of tolerant attitude to languages and cultures of world’s nations. Here Russian, Bashkir, Tatar, Azerbaijani, Armenian, Byelorussian, Vietnamese, Spanish, Mari, German, Polish and other languages will be presented” – initiators of the action explained.

The action is held under the aegis of the UNESCO Committee RB and with assistance of the Ministry for education RB.
