Construction of national tennis center is planned in Bashkortostan

On Thursday, November 10, the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov has met the President of the Russian Tennis Federation Shamil Tarpishev.
Development of tennis in Republic of Bashkortostan was under discussion in the course of this meeting.
Rustem Khamitov told the guest about plans for development of tennis.
“We'd like yo to help us. We would like to sign a cooperation agreement between our Republic and the Tennis Federation. We would also want you to inspect some sports objects, which can be used for holding big tennis competitions. We are ready for any forms of cooperation”.
“Ufa has rich tennis traditions still since the times of the Soviet Union and from this point of view your region is one of the best. If we are able to make everything you tell us a reality, the whole process of tennis revival in your Republic will be very quick” - Shamil Tarpishev answered - “According to the statistics of the International Tennis Federation we are the first country in tennis for the last decade. 207 countries go in for tennis”.
Thus, an international competition for children, younger than 12, is scheduled in Ufa already in January 2012. Besides, the parties have settled the Russian national children team will gather here in January and February and the zone European competitions will be held in Ufa too, Shamil Tarpishev reported to journalists. As he hopes, construction of a big tennis center in Ufa will fall on 2012. At present time the site for this facility is chosen and 8-10 objects will be offered for a choice.
“We are very interested in this project, both as the Russian Tennis Federation as well as the Russian national tennis team and it is very important that this center will be located in the middle latitudes – it is connected with the preparatory period for the members of the Russian national team” - Shamil Tarpishev explained.
