Internet in Russia is becoming more popular than TV

Internet in Russia is becoming more popular than TV and the last contest of journalist popularity, recently held in Novosibirsk, proves that. According to the contest an online author has for the first time become the most popular professional journalist in the city.

The questioning was traditionally held only among the heads of local mass-media, which for several days formed the commission, called to distribute all local journalists of Novosibirsk by their professional weight. It turned out as a result that 20 editors-in chief thereby composed the rate, consisting of 50 names and the names of online journalists occupied all upper lines in the list. The author of the news agency “Taiga-Info” Alexei Mazur was announced the winner.

As the chairman of the contest fund Constantine Bessonov stated, the representatives of traditional mass-media, mainly the TV-journalists, always made up the first three of the leaders hitherto. These changes witness that popularity of internet already exceeds popularity of TV in Russia. If not forgetting the fact that online journalism in the country started to develop in reality only before 2005, the triumph of internet journalism in Novosibirsk is just the result of the first five years of existing of this mass-media in Russia, as our colleagues from Novosibirsk report.
