Scholarships increased by 29%

The real growth of scholarships for the majority of Russian students will make up 29% in 2011. The State Duma deputy, coordinator of “United Russia” project “Modernization of education” Nikolay Bulaev reported about that at today’s gathering of “United Russia” Bashkir regional division.

“First, the basic scholarship will be increased by 9%” – he reported – “Second, the scholarship fund is increased by 20%. It is done in order the institutes would be able to raise the scholarships for their best students self-dependently, when they themselves consider such rise expedient”.

Nikolai Bulaev has mentioned that the corresponding amendment to the country’s budget, necessary for allocation of means for the increase of scholarships, was already introduced. “All “United Russia” deputies have voted for” – he said – “But other parties refused to say “yes” to it”.

According to M-r Bulaev there was no such increase of the scholarship fund for the last 15 years. The last rise of the scholarships has occurred in 2008.

The rise of scholarships will affect about six million people – this very number of students study today at state and municipal Russian institutes. Before the rise the rate of an average scholarship made up about 1200 rubles.
