Bashkir Muslims joined the Holy Month of Ramadan

The Holy Month of Ramadan started at night on August 1. In the course of the whole month all Muslims have to keep the strict fast, which presumes the refusal from foods and water and some other abstentions during the day.

The annual Ramadan fast is considered one of five Islamic pillars. Along with the “material” restrictions Muslims have to avoid “dark ideas” and to devote these days to the reflections to what extent their lives correspond to the requirements of Koran. The month will be finished with the holiday of Uraza-Bayram – the second Muslim holiday by significance. It falls on August 30 and this day is declared the day off in Bashkortostan.
