Hay-making period can aggravate situation with forest fires in Bashkortostan

Situation with forest fires in Bashkortostan can become more strained because of dry weather, as the Minister of forestry RB Rajap Nabiullin reported today.

“The grass in forests is very high and if a drought bursts out, the fire-prevention situation can worsen” – the Minister said – “The hay-making period can become especially dangerous”.

The Minister reported that 34 mobile groups were formed in the Republic in 2010. The total number of people in these groups is 400.

“In case of fire forests we were sending these groups to the especially dangerous zones and they proved to be quite efficient. All groups are on the call now and ready to leave for any spot of the Republic for fire extinguishing at any moment” – the Minister said.

For today the overall number of employees of the Ministry of forestry RB amounts to 3,5 thousand people. In 2010 the federal exchequer has allocated about 70 million rubles for the Bashkir forestry and the Republican budget – 23,4 million.

“The center for fire prevention and extinguishing is established in Bashkortostan and we’ve already purchased all necessary machinery – fire-engines, bulldozers, trailers and retrievers – it means we are ready” – the Minister underscored.
